Marcus Ray is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on August 14, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio, United States. Ray was an assistant coach and defensive coordination at various high schools in Columbus between 2001-2003. He began his three-year tenure at Ohio Dominican University as the defensive backs coach. He was a graduate assistant at Michigan in 2007. He was also a graduate assistant for Central Michigan Chippewas’ football team the following year. Ray was an assistant coach at Ohio Dominican for one season in 2009. He was named the defensive coordinator at Mifflin High School, Columbus in 2010.
Ray was a part of eight National Football League (NFL), games played by the Oakland Raiders in 1999. He played in the 2000 season with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe. His contributions to the team’s success led them to the World Bowl.
Ray played all 12 games as strong safety for the 1997 Michigan Wolverines. They won a national championship following a 12-0 season that included a Rose Bowl victory. The NCAA Division I-A season record was set by the Wolverines for the fewest yards allowed by a team. Ray intercepted five passes, placing him second behind Charles Woodson, the Heisman Trophy winner. Ray’s 71 total tackles, and 44 solo stops, were third on the team after those of Dhani Jones and Sword. Ray was featured on Sports Illustrated’s December 1, 1997 cover. He was seen in action from the Ohio State Buckeyes football game. Ray was again awarded all-conference honors and was a second-team All-American selection by Sporting News and the Associated Press. He was the consensus preseason All-American for 1998 and was co-captain for the 1998 Michigan Wolverines football teams. However, he was banned by the NCAA for his association with a sports agent. He only played in three games in 1998. Ray finished his Michigan football career with ten interceptions, which is the seventh-most in program history. He had 229 tackles, including 148 solo stops while a Wolverine.
In 2010, Ray wrote a book of inspirational thoughts entitled, Rays of Light, Volume 1 “Let There Be Light”. He published it in 2011 through his company, TEAM RAYROC LLC, of which he is CEO and president.
